Measures initiated by the
Institution for the promotion of gender equity during the year
Government
College Sihma has a strong ethical work
culture that is based on inclusivity. It observes highest ethical standards in
all its activities. Equal opportunities are provided to all individuals
irrespective of gender, race, caste, color, creed, language, religion,
political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other
status. Its unique work culture, healthy traditions and ethos have led to
enrolment of the employees as per the roaster. Safety, security and well-being,
along with gender equity and friendly working atmosphere are the issues of
prime concern to GC Sihma. Gender sensitivity is an inherent value in the
cultural ethos of the institute and its neighboring community, as is evident by
the following facilities –
(a)
Safety and Security
·
Security
guards are deployed at main gate and students with valid identity cards are
allowed into the campus.
·
Rotational
duty by all faculty members for discipline and security.
·
Strict implementation of Anti-Ragging measures
and keeping the campus ragging free.
·
Awareness campaigns on women safety and
gender sensitivity through rallies and camps by NSS student volunteers.
·
The
college campus is under surveillance with CC cameras installed at prominent
locations.
·
Women faculty members accompany girl students
when they participate in outdoor activities or tours.
·
Internal
Complaints Committee(ICC) interacts regularly with the girl students and
resolves the issues addressed by them.
·
The
college ensures social security through Anti-Ragging Committee and Grievance
Redressal Committee.
·
The
Disciplinary committee curbs indiscipline in the campus.
·
A complaint box is arranged to receive
grievances or suggestions from the students which are addressed by respective
committees.

Counseling
- Faculty
counsel the students during mentoring regarding academic performance, career
plans and personal issues
- Mentor-Mentee programmes are run regarding
students psychological issues.
- ICC members enquire and counsel the students
addressing their problems time to time
- Eminent persons from police department and
constitutional members are invited to counsel the students regarding ragging,
eve teasing and harassments during college events.
- Grievance Redressal Committees for staff and
students is available.
- Placement Cells and Alumni Placement
Assistance Cell extends support in educating the girl students regarding career
plans and entrepreneurship policies.
- Health Counseling, Values Counseling, Career
Counseling takes place periodically
(c) Common Rooms:

monitors the facilities in Common Rooms.

GC Sihma has been successful in
caring for its diverse students and staff population harmoniously in its
efforts to steadily achieve its vision and mission. This is also evident from
regular feedback from all its students and parents. Other Initiatives
Additional initiatives ensure active participation of students in co-curricular
activities including sports as it is an audit course in all UG programmes and
also at intra-faculty, inter- faculty and inter-university levels.
Annual Gender Sensitization Action Plan
· To
create and propagate a safe, secure and healthy environment to achieve gender
equality and to ensure respectful and
dignified behavior at all levels.
· Conduct Awareness Programmes for the girls
students regarding self-defense, Aids
awareness, Female Foeticide, etc.
· Promoting
activities pertaining to Health, Cleanliness, Personal Hygiene, and Nutrition.
· To conduct Activities for students regarding
Entrepreneurship Development and Career Enhancement
· To organize workshops related to cybercrime,
safety and security for the students
·To review the minutes and the Action Taken
Reports of the Women Empowerment Cell, Internal Complaint Committee,
Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee, Grievances Redressal Committee and ensure
redressals in time.
· To
prepare and deploy Student’s code of conduct that promotes gender equality at
the governance level.
·To
encourage students to join NSS and ensure equal rights and participations in
regular cultural activities.
